Today was my first day back at work and everything seems so stifling and gray. I took a trip to the pool with the kids and while this would normally be a good day out the pool seemed so grey, smelly, and artificial compared to the paradise that I had just left. And later on I was in CVS trying to drop off the film that I had used and almost had a meltdown in the checkout line because of all of the bright lights, beeping, and overall sensory overload. And just like that all I could think about was being back on the dock with Adam, Austin, Grace, Dante, and Tyler staring at the stars searching for a shooting star, pondering the world, listening to the gentle splash of the water on the rocks along the beach, gazing at the glitter of the bioluminescence, feeling the gentle sway of the dock from the momentum of the waves, and hearing the occasional splash of the eagle rays leaping.
Every now and then when we would be out on the dock there would be this amazing shooting star that was exceptionally bright and had a really long tail. That was my trip to Honduras in a nutshell. Every single person that I met and every experience that I had was amazing. I am that nature child that is content wearing raggedy clothes, living most of my time in my bathing suit with sand in uncomfortable places, listening to the sound of water lapping against the shore, diving every day, and never ever wearing shoes again!! There were struggles but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world and when the opportunity presents itself again I'll be on my way to another place on another adventure.
