Out With a Bang 7/17/15

And thus the beginning of our last evening began. Adam and I wanted to finish our presentation and jump in the water and have the rest of the afternoon to relax and not be absorbed in the work, and that is what we did. Swimming and snorkeling had become so normal and taken for granted but this last day was so nice and peaceful. Everything seemed like it meant so much more. Dinner was fit for the scientific royalty and then the presentations started. There was a whole range of  different levels of presentations from the study of how long it took to a starfish to flip over, the surface area of sea fan that a flamingo tongue consumed, algae studies, hermit crab observation studies, anemones and crab symbiotic relationships, coral healing rates, and more! Personally I think Adam and I rocked it. We may not have had the most advanced presentation but we had a beginning and then an end with conclusions. It seemed like the presentations would go on forever and I was getting a bit antsy by hour 2. Finally everyone wrapped up and headed off to shove all of their stuff back in their bags (I had packed earlier in the day). I am proud to say that I participated in "pirate night". There's no other way to explain it than....

Let's just say say that it was a good night. Despite some disputes over the guiffiti that I had gotten Austin but it didn't ruin the night. There were good jams, jovial laughs, melancholy stories, beautiful stars, good talks, and that was our night. The night was perfect with the wind in my hair and my heart was exploding with happiness.
