The day ended with a good old fashioned surprise cake and a tasty eggplant lasagna and garlic bread. It was Sophia's 17th birthday and professor Gilchrist had told the cook, Dante, that it was and he made her an adorable homemade cake with cherry filling in the middle and the the resort and the guests surprised her. I have a really nice appreciation now, for how good it is to decompress. Yeah we are living on a paradise island and our "class" is to look at the reefs, but I feels good just to sit around and tell stories while really dated but good funky music plays and watch the other people laugh and swear at each other as they play cards. There's definitely beach vibes here but also just a very special close knit community that exists on Cayos Cochinos. I'm definitely going to miss this lifestyle of swinging in hammocks, watching out for rogue coconuts, and living in my bathing suit.
